SUMMARY:2025 Detroit St. Patrick's Parade!
DESCRIPTION:Be sure to mark your calendars for the 67th Detroit St. Patrick’s Parade on Sunday\, March 16\, 2025\, 1:00 pm! \nOur presenting sponsor is: Kitch Attorneys & Counselors\nThis year’s theme is: Detroit Irish: A charitable legacy of friendship\, loyalty\, and love. \nWe have the honor of having Joan O’Halloran as our 2025 Grand Marshal! You can find her bio at https://www.detroitstpatricksparade.com/joan-ohalloran/ \nOur 2025 Parade Commentators are Patrick Johnson – Host of the Irish Music Cafe Radio Show and Jason Raithel – 104.3 WOMC Radio Station. \nThe 2025 Hometown Heroes are Sgt Hinkle\, Ofc Naamou\, Ofc Cannon\, Ofc Stempin of the Plymouth Township Police. \nThe parade typically attracts 80\,000-100\,000 people\, making it one of the largest St. Patrick’s parades in the country and it features floats\, marching bands\, color guard units and more. \nThe Detroit St. Patrick’s Parade has brought together people of all cultures and nationalities in metro Detroit to celebrate Irish culture and make lasting memories. The parade is a great time to celebrate Corktown\, Detroit and the positive momentum in the Corktown area. \nThe United Irish Societies is made up of more than 35 Irish organizations across Metro Detroit. Many members\, community leaders and business professionals who make up the UIS donate time\, money\, and resources to ensure that the parade and other philanthropic efforts continue to be supported. \nThe United Irish Societies (UIS) is the organization that hosts the parade. In 1958\, the UIS hosted the first St. Patrick’s Parade in Dearborn\, MI. The Parade route follows along Michigan Avenue through the area known as Corktown. Corktown received its name as the Irish were the largest ethnic group of newcomers to Detroit\, most of them from County Cork. The Corktown neighborhood is Detroit’s oldest surviving neighborhood. \nA heartfelt thank you for everyone who volunteered and sponsored the 2024 parade! There was countless hours\, effort and dedication that went into making the parade the huge success it was.
