Detroit’s 325th Birthday Bash Garden Party at The Whitney

July 24 @ 5:00 pm

So much has happened in and to Detroit since Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac founded the city in 1701 and there is so much to celebrate, and that is just what The Whitney plans to do with its Third Annual Detroit Birthday Bash!

The birthday celebration garden party will take place on Friday, July 24, beginning at 5 p.m. Guests will enjoy the Detroit Classics menu, specialty cocktails and music from a DJ spinning Detroit and Motown favorites. The $10 admission includes a house-made Coney Island hot dog and a slice of birthday cake. Tickets can be purchased on The Whitney’s website.

Topping the limited birthday menu will be starts like a classic Maurice salad, the Rock and Rye and Michigan Cherry Glazed Tenderloin with Gorgonzola Latkes or Better Made Potato Chip Crusted Walleye with Lemon Caper Beurre Blanc and Collard Greens or Detroit Almond Chicken Fried Boneless Chicken Breast topped with Toasted Almond and Mushroom & Soy Gravy over Jasmine Rice and Spring Mix and more. Finish it all off with a slice of The Whitney’s birthday cake on us. A full menu can be found on The Whitney’s website.

“The dessert is ‘on us’ because how can you charge anyone for a piece of cake when they’re at a birthday party?” said The Whitney’s owner, Bud Liebler. “Detroit has been through so much and the city has done so much for the rest of the world. And it just keeps getting better all the time. 325 years deserves celebration and The Whitney is proud to be part of it.”

Celebrating Detroit’s past, present and future is a hallmark of The Whitney, the iconic 1894 mansion-turned-restaurant on Woodward Ave. The Classics menu will be offered alongside of The Whitney’s traditional award-winning menu.
